ST. BRIGID’S CHURCH, RAHARNEY

Welcome to our parish

ST. BRIGID’S CHURCH, RAHARNEY

St. Brigid’s Raharney is part of Parish of Killucan in the Diocese of Meath.

We are a warm and welcoming community nestled in a village in east Westmeath. This page is where you will find useful information about Mass times and a live link to our church webcam.

We strive to build a thriving community that celebrates the Faith, Hope, and Love that we profess in Jesus Christ.

History of the Church Building: The immediate predecessor of the present chapel of Raharney stood nearer the river than the present building. A lease in the diocesan archives, dated 4th March 1834 grants land “laid out for the purpose of erecting a Roman Catholic chapel thereon” which was built later that year by Fr. John Curran PP. This chapel was renovated by Fr. Eugene O’Rourke PP in 1860. Both events are commemorated with an inscription on the exterior right-hand-side wall of the church.
